Indonesia Aluminium Smelter INALUM and EGA signed a project memorandum of understanding
EGA Aluminum Corporation is the largest industrial company outside of oil and gas in the United Arab Emirates.
INALUM is an Indonesian state-owned enterprise specializing in aluminum smelting.
The company manages the huge power generation potential from the Asahan River.
INALUM was originally established in 1976 as a joint venture company established by the Indonesian government and the Japanese corporate consortium Nippon Asahan aluminum Co., Ltd., and was fully acquired by the government in 2013.
INALUM has successfully transformed into a strategic holding company, overseeing all state-owned mining companies, and while supporting the industrialization of downstream mining, it has increased the integration of business and diversified mining production.
Recently, EGA signed a memorandum of understanding with Indonesia’s only and largest integrated Indonesia Aluminium Smelter INALUM.
The goal is to issue licenses for EGA technology developed by the UAE to Indonesian companies and cooperate on upgrading the existing INALUM smelter and developing a new aluminum smelter in Indonesia.
The memorandum of understanding was exchanged in the presence of His Royal Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and His Excellency Mr. Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia, The signatories are Abdulla Kalban, President of the European Union, and Orias Petrus Moedak, President of IN ALUM.
